Logan Mailloux makes the difference

Montreal Canadiens’ Logan Mailloux played like a hero on Sunday, scoring the decisive goal late in the third period as the London Knights defeated Sarnia Sting 3-1.

The defenseman, who hit the back of the net on the power play, gave his team a 2-0 lead in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Western Finals.

In addition to his goal, Mailloux deflected three shots into the opponent’s net and received two penalty minutes. In Game 1, he was eliminated from the goalscoring chart but recorded a +2 difference in a 4–1 win.

Since the start of the playoffs, the 20-year-old guard has 11 points, including five goals, in 11 games. He also shows a +7 differential and has fired 44 shots.

Owen Beck’s team loses

The Canadians’ other OHL playoff survivor, Owen Beck, was less fortunate.

The Peterborough Petes lost 3-1 to the North Bay Battalion. Beck got an assist on the backhand.

The East final is tied 1-1 as the Petes won 3-2 on Friday. Beck had also scored a goal and an assist.

The 19-year-old has 10 points, including four goals, in 12 games since the start of the playoffs. He also showed a +4 differential.
