Emma Watson revealed why she hasn’t acted since 2019 when she took part in the film Little Women. In an interview with the Financial Times, the actress explained that the break from work happened because she felt “locked in” at the height of her Hollywood career. Emma focused on a new project to direct the clip of an unknown artist and assured that she will not give up acting.

“I wasn’t very happy to be honest. I think I felt a bit locked in,” she admitted. “What I found really difficult was going out and promoting something I didn’t have a lot of control over. Standing in front of a movie and having all the journalists say, ‘How does that fit with your point of view?’ It was really difficult being the face and the spokesperson for things that I wasn’t involved in,” the actress explained.

Without citing examples, Emma Watson said that she feels responsible for situations in projects that she cannot intervene in. “I was accused in a way that I found frustrating because I didn’t have a voice. I was starting to realize that I just wanted to be in front of things where, if someone were to criticize me, I could say in a way that didn’t make me hate myself, ‘Yeah, I screwed up, it was mine Decision ‘I should have done better.’” the actress clarified.

Emma began acting as a child when she breathed life into the character Hermione from the Harry Potter saga, but now the actress wants to explore a side of her career that was previously “unreachable”. Watson wrote and directed a Prada campaign; She will also direct the video for an undisclosed artist. “People were always telling me to direct and produce, even when I was on ‘Harry Potter,'” he explained.

She said she discovered her talent for directing because of her brother. “I was concerned that it was just something technical and not creative and that I wouldn’t be able to use my skills. It wasn’t until Alex came up to me with this and friends asked “I need to do a photo shoot” or “I’m making a video” that I realized I really know a lot about the field. Being a director seemed out of reach. I don’t think I had confidence in that. I know it sounds weird, I grew up on a movie set,” he continued.

Emma is starting a Masters in creative writing at the University of Oxford but has given assurances that she will return to acting. “I love what I do. I’m going to find a way to do that where I don’t have to split myself up into different faces and different people. And I don’t want to be like a robot anymore. Does that make sense?” he added added.
