Reality star and restaurateur Lisa Vanderpump is closing her restaurant, Pump, in West Hollywood, California.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce that the lease at Pump Restaurant is expiring and we will be closing its doors on July 5, after 10 years of beautiful evenings under our olive trees,” read the statement posted on Pump’s Instagram.
Pump was one of several restaurants featured on the reality show Vanderpump Rules. Two other venues, Tom Tom and SUR, are still operational.
Vanderpump’s testimony blamed a rent increase for Pump’s downfall.
“While we have loved our time operating Pump, we are unwilling to commit to taking on another 10-year lease with a huge rent increase from landlords,” the statement continued. “After many years of successfully running over 37 businesses, this type of rental is unsustainable.”
Her landlord disagreed.
“Lisa’s comments regarding rent for Pump are incorrect. We have not increased the rent and in fact have only been supportive as they attempted to make up rental commitments, including waiving part of the rent during Covid,” it said in a statement.
