You know the saying, if it’s free, you’re the product. The latter has perhaps never been truer than with the new Teevee Corporation project. As the name suggests, the start-up wants to make a name for itself in the television market with a concept that it is clearly proud of. According to his statement, it would simply be “the greatest innovation for television since color”.
It is clear that the proposal is attractive on paper. In fact, Teevee Corporation is planning to market completely free televisions. How is it possible ? Through advertising, of course. In fact, this new type of television has a second screen on which advertisements are continuously broadcast. According to journalist Janko Röttgers, the height of this screen would be roughly similar to that of a smartphone, with a width equal to that of the main screen.

An ad-supported free TV, and why not?
Another limitation: you shouldn’t expect a smart TV either. Conversely, users are instead entitled to a collection of streaming services, the full list of which is not yet known. Finally, the second screen is also used to display several widgets such as: B. the weather, news or even the monitoring of sports competitions.
If the project can make you smile at first sight, then you have to admit that we should have seen it. In fact, advertising has been installed on our streaming platforms for a long time, Netflix is even considering offering a totally free formula based on this system.
Free TV already exists, largely thanks to Google, which has recently started offering a choice of 800 fully ad-financed channels. There is therefore no doubt that there is a market to exploit. The Teevee Corporation TV, meanwhile, is slated to launch “later this year.”
