A GloboNews found that UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was talking about donating approximately R$500 million to the Amazon Fund at a meeting with President Lula this Friday (5th) in London. The information has not yet been officially released by the UK.

The meeting between Lula and Sunak lasted about 40 minutes.

Lula traveled to England this Thursday (4th) where he will attend the coronation ceremony of King Charles III this Saturday (6th). will attend.

The Amazon Fund was established 15 years ago with the aim of raising funds to finance measures to reduce emissions from forest degradation and deforestation.

The coronation of Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla will take place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday morning from 10am. The ceremony will be conducted by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, the leading official of the Church of England.

After the ceremony, Lula will attend a reserved meeting at the King’s invitation, along with other heads of state who will be in London for the celebrations.

The federal government sees President Lula’s trip to the United Kingdom as part of the revitalization of Brazil’s diplomatic relations since the president took office in January. Since taking office, Lula has visited Argentina, Uruguay, the United States, China, the United Arab Emirates, Portugal and Spain, and has met with various world leaders in Brazil and abroad.

Britain also supports Brazil’s bid for a permanent seat on the UN Security Council, the government said.

Later this month British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly is scheduled to visit Brazil for the 6th Strategic Dialogue between the Chancellors of both countries.

Relations between Brazil and the United Kingdom

Currently, the United Kingdom is the 20th country to which Brazil exports the most products ($3.7 billion), and also the 20th country in the ranking of imports from the Brazilian market ($2.8 billion ), with a total trade flow estimated at $6.5 billion.
