The annual event called First Run is primarily a visibility campaign for the biker gang. This is the first hike of the year that all members in good standing are required to attend as per their internal regulations.
During the day, several processions of motorbikes appeared at a place on the Sainte-Thérèse rank in Sorel-Tracy, where a big biker’s party is scheduled to take place throughout the weekend.
The venue in question is near the residence of Serge Lebraseur, a full member of the Hells. Police officers on board the Sûreté du Québec helicopter monitored the scene from the air.
Police roadblocks had also been installed on all roads leading to the gathering site.
The police could thus, in addition to checking the conformity of their motorcycle, also verify the identity of each motorcyclist.
By the end of the afternoon everything seemed to be going smoothly and there were no arrests.
pressure from the police
The biker gang’s first annual outing comes at a time when police pressure is weighing heavily on the powerful criminal organization.
In recent weeks, authorities have ramped up drug searches against respected members of the Hells, as well as certain members of their fan clubs.
One of these surgeries was also performed exactly a month ago to the day at the luxurious residence of Hells Martin Robert at Sainte-Sophie in the Laurentians. Another search took place on the same day at his compatriot Stéphane “Fesse” Plouffe in Saint-Joseph-du-Lac.
The police count the two bikers among the most influential members of the Hells Angels in the country.
However, it is unknown what the other members of the Hells think of the business relationships Robert and Plouffe would also have with an ex-lieutenant of the Rizzuto clan, Francesco Del Balso, who police suspect of ordering the attempted murder aimed at Montreal mafia co-boss Leonardo Rizzuto, who was shot and wounded in Laval last March.
