Black Oklahoma man charged with racial hate killings of two white strangers, ‘he shot in the back of the head because of their skin color’

A black man has been accused of shooting two white men in the back of the head in a hate crime.
Carlton Gilford, who is homeless, allegedly shot dead Lundin Hathcock, 35, and James McDaniel, 55, on April 18 in two separate shootings, according to the Tulsa Police Department.
He is believed to have killed Hathcock at the Rudisill Library around 9.40am. He reportedly went after Hathcock, who was seated at a desk, and shot him.
Shortly after, he allegedly went to a nearby QuikTrip supermarket and shot McDaniel. After he fell to the ground, Gilford shot him again. He died on the spot.
According to Fox News, the surveillance footage also shows Gilford shooting another person and a security guard at QuikTrip.
When police arrived, the homeless man admitted shooting at Hathcock and McDaniel.

His charge of malicious intimidation is considered a hate crime in Oklahoma and means the victims were targeted because of their race, according to Fox News.
Tulsa District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler said the evidence supported the two men were targeted because of their race, but didn’t explain to Fox News why she thought so.
