Two motorcycle accidents in less than an hour in Quebec

Two accidents involving motorcyclists occurred early Saturday evening in Lévis and Saint-Honoré in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. The two drivers are in critical condition and there are concerns for their lives, according to Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries during a road trip on an access ramp to Highway 20 in Lévis.

The man, in his 30s, was alone on board his boat when he lost control of it at around 5:30pm. Traveling west, he had just entered the junction that led to the bridges to the north shore.

“The driver was seriously injured during the evasive maneuver and taken to the hospital immediately,” said SQ spokeswoman Hélène Saint-Pierre.


A specialized collision investigator was on site to shed light on the matter. One of the two lanes of the access ramp has been closed since the events to continue the investigation.

Heavy collision at Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean

Another motorcyclist is in mortal danger after an accident, this time in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean.

The collision happened about an hour later than in Lévis. The driver, who was alone in his vehicle, collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Boulevard Martel and Chemin Saint-Marc in Saint-Honoré.

“The motorcyclist was also alone on board at the time of the impact. He was also transported to the hospital center. There were no injuries in the car,” Hélène Saint-Pierre continues.

Investigations to determine the possible cause of the accident are ongoing. Since the events, there has been alternating traffic on Boulevard Martel.

With the two accidents early on Saturday evening, the toll for motorcyclists has increased in recent days. Two other similar events took place on Friday on the north coast and in Bas-Saint-Laurent.

Cédric Vigneault, 39, died from his injuries after coming face-to-face with an SUV in downtown Sept-Îles. Caroline Gauthier, 32, of Saint-Médard, also died after losing control of her motorcycle on Route 293 near Saint-Clément in Bas-Saint-Laurent.
