The gas station is a place that every motorist has to visit at some point and very often. However, there are some underlying rules that should be respected and they are not always.

Check out some things you should never do at a gas station:
1 Don’t smoke
It’s perhaps the most obvious piece of advice, but it’s worth remembering that petrol is highly flammable and emits vapors even at very low temperatures (40°C). A small spark, like that from a cigarette, is enough to start a fire or an explosion. Therefore, never smoke at a gas station.
2 Do not accelerate at the gas station
There are people who rush to the gas station, but forget that there are a lot of people there: customers, passersby, employees, vendors, families, animals, etc. It is therefore correct not to go faster than 10 km/h on the spot drive and thus reduce the risk of accidents.
3 Don’t skimp on the wrong fuel
Many cars accept any type of fuel, especially flex fuel. However, there are vehicles that, as recommended by the manufacturer, have to fill up with premium petrol. In this case, do not skimp on something cheaper, because the future damage will be huge.
4 Don’t talk on your cell phone in the gas station
While there are no records of cell phone fires at gas stations, it’s best not to take any chances with the static electricity generated by these devices. In addition, these devices can distract drivers and contribute to accidents at gas stations.
5 Follow the station signs
Always follow the directions of arrows and other signals to avoid disrupting the flow and causing unnecessary confusion at the gas station.
6 Don’t let the car run
It’s unlikely, but according to the Institute of Petroleum Equipment in the United States (US), several fires at gas stations started due to a spark created by a component of a running engine. Therefore, always switch off the vehicle while refueling.
7 Don’t ask to fill “too much”.
Some consumers ask to fill the tank to the brim or even just above the safety cap. Do not do this as various problems and dangers may appear in this way.
