According to new rumors, the 14th generation of Intel Core Raptor Lake processors will be able to clock up to 6.2 GHz. A new record for a processor without overclocking.

A change is emerging for Intel. The brand is reportedly on the verge of renaming its line of processors, a first in 15 years, and is working on a new, sophisticated manufacturing process. While waiting for these big changes, engineers are working on Raptor Lake Refresh, Season 14.
Exceeded the 6 GHz ceiling?
According to Moore’s Law is Dead, the 14th Gen Intel Core processor is historic. In fact, processors for Raptor Lake Refresh desktops could reach a record 6.2 to 6.5 gigahertz. Gone are the days when Intel hit a dead end with the frequency increase of its Pentium 4.
As a reminder, the 2022 Raptor Lake range bumped up to 5.8GHz. If we’re talking about records here, it’s because we’re talking about commercial processors, not overclocking competitions. There is also talk of a processor that most likely has to be able to be air-cooled.
The launch would be scheduled for the start of the school year, in Q3 of the year, and the processors would still be socket 1700 compatible. In other words, Intel would keep the same platform for the 3rd generation in a row. An inspiration from AMD’s good practices in this area, which we welcome. In the past, Intel has made us more used to forcing a motherboard change.
The new range of processors would be quite diverse with offerings ranging from 35W processors all the way up to 125W CPUs.
See you at the end of the year for a better look at what Intel has to offer.
