Three students were wounded and badly wounded when someone opened fire near Des Moines. Iowahigh school on a Monday afternoon.

At 3:00 p.m. local time, the Des Moines Police Department tweeted that officers were at the scene of the shooting at East High School.

According to police, three teenagers are in critical condition at the district hospital.

Des Moines Police Sergeant Paul Parizek said the suspects in the shooting had been apprehended, but declined to give any further details.

Des Moines Public Schools said the high school is closed and residents are asked to stay away from the area.
