Ron DeSantis boasts he successfully censored Disney

The Florida governor, who has been at war with Disney for more than a year, is pleased to have silenced the entertainment giant.

In an interview with Newsmax, Ron DeSantis declared that he had won a victory against the multinational and stressed that he had stopped speaking out on social issues.

“Since our argument last year, Disney has not taken a position on any of these issues. She didn’t say a word,” he said.

The company had opposed the Florida Governor’s Parental Rights in Education Act. The bill sought to prevent teachers from discussing gender identity or sexual orientation with students before fourth grade.

In response to Disney opposition, Ron DeSantis passed legislation to regain control of Walt Disney World territory, rescinding the special status the company had enjoyed in the Orlando area for more than 50 years.

The company then filed a lawsuit against the Florida governor, accusing him of seeking “political revenge.”

Ron DeSantis maintains that a private company should not be exempt from the law.

So for the politician, his win over Disney is double.

“Disney has no right to pervert the system to the detriment of Floridians. It’s a win for Floridans,” he said.
