A keynote will be held on May 10th to almost certainly introduce the Pixel 7a and give more details about the Pixel tablet.
Google clearly felt the rumors had gotten too strong – after most of the details leaked – and decided May the Fold (4th place) was the right time to release a teaser video of the next phone along with to reveal the release date on May 10th .
We previously thought the Fold would be arriving soon, but it certainly didn’t make a debut at the Google I/O developer conference, although the Pixel 7a rumors were much more concrete.
As you can see, the device shares a lot of design language with other recent Google Pixel phones – particularly the bar that houses the camera setup – and its cover screen looks particularly large. Will that be enough to put it ahead of Samsung’s excellent Galaxy Z4 Fold? Only time can tell.
Of course, although it will be released on May 10th, there is no indication of a release date or an actual price. So this could be an attempt to get developers involved while waiting for an actual release in late 2023.
We’re expecting the Pixel Fold to pack a 48-megapixel main camera, along with 10-megapixel wide-angle and 10-megapixel telephoto cameras, available in 256 and 512 size options, and featuring a Google-developed Tensor G2 chip. It looks like the device will measure 5.8 inches when closed and 7.6 inches when unfolded.
