A team of scientists at Tel Aviv University in Israel has developed an artificial intelligence tool capable of quickly translating Akkadian texts written by the Babylonians and Assyrians. The study was published in the journal PNAS Nexuson Monday, 2
However, the technology still needs to be improved. Therefore, it is used as an aid to translators trying to unravel the mysteries of cuneiform texts.
Artificial intelligence
The Akkadian language is considered to be the oldest in history. The process of translating this language is tedious. In addition, there are very few people who are fluent in this ancient language. In this way, artificial intelligence will also help people who do not understand the language so well.
Cuneiform, used by more than one language except Mesopotamia, used cuneiform instruments to carve symbols in clay. The first texts were created with this method.
According to the Jerusalem Post, archeology has already unearthed “hundreds of thousands” of tablets with cuneiform inscriptions. Now it is expected that with artificial intelligence, the texts and mysteries written by ancient peoples can be unraveled faster.
