After a mine fire in Peru, 27 people were found dead. The accident happened on Saturday at the Yanaquihua mine, in the south of the country. According to previous information from the regional government, a short circuit would have caused the fire in the ditch. The authorities assured that the fire will be investigated in detail to identify those responsible. The victims’ families must be compensated.
Miners suffocated to death about 500 meters from the mine entrance, according to the mine owner. Peru is the world’s largest producer of gold and the second largest producer of copper.
