What is the solution to gray hair?

To find an answer to gray hair, several studies came to the same conclusion. Blame for hair color loss lies in the breakdown of melanin, the pigment that tones and highlights hair colors.

Over time, this substance is no longer produced by the body, and gray hair appears concise. Therefore, scientists from the New York University School of Medicine have shown a way to solve the problem. “Our study furthers our understanding of how melanocyte stem cells work to naturally color hair,” said study author Qi Sun.

The solution on the way?

In an interview with Nature Magazine, the researcher says that “the newly discovered mechanisms raise the possibility that the same fixed positioning of melanocyte stem cells might exist in humans [já que foi testado apenas em ratos]. If this is the case, we are looking for a possible way to reverse or prevent human hair aging by helping clogged cells move back between compartments in the developing hair follicle.”

For now, research needs to be deepened and tested on humans to determine its effectiveness. There is no date for making a product to cure or prevent gray hair once and for all. But this is an important first step that sheds a light at the end of the tunnel and points to a possible solution that would put people’s minds at ease around the world.
