Jill Biden heads to Arizona, Nevada and Kentucky to visit a cancer treatment center after her husband Joe’s remark and meet with the families of military personnel deployed to Europe during Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
- First Lady Jill Biden embarked on a three-day, tri-state trip on Monday afternoon, arriving in Phoenix, Arizona, to tour the Intel Ocotillo campus.
- The first lady is using the trip to highlight some of the areas the president mentioned in last week’s State of the Union that could benefit from bipartisan support.
- These include job training and cancer ending as she makes stops Monday and Tuesday in the swing states of Arizona and Nevada.
- She will then travel to Fort Campbell, Kentucky on Wednesday to spend time with military families who support NATO in Europe.
First lady Jill Biden On Monday afternoon, he set out on a three-day trip across the three states, arriving in Phoenix, Arizona, to tour the Intel Ocotillo campus.
The First Lady is using the trip to highlight some of the areas the President Joe Biden Mentioned last week in the State of the Union – which could get bipartisan support like job training and cancer ending – making stops Monday and Tuesday in the swing states of Arizona and Nevada.
She will then travel to Fort Campbell, Kentucky on Wednesday to spend time with families of deployed service members who support NATO allies in Europe, against the backdrop of the President of Russia Vladimir PutinRussian invasion of Ukraine.

Biden’s trip comes after a hectic travel weekend: She attended memorial services in Boston and San Francisco on Friday, participated in a fundraiser in San Francisco on Saturday morning, and then flew to Wilmington, Delaware to join her husband for the rest of the weekend.
The Bidens returned to the White House on Sunday evening.
On this trip, the first lady will also take part in the fundraising of the Democratic National Committee.
The Intel shutdown comes after the first lady seated Intel CEO Patrick Gelsinger in her box at the State of the Union evening event on Tuesday night.
Gelsinger previously visited the White House to announce a new semiconductor plant in Columbus, Ohio that will create more than 7,000 construction jobs and another 3,000 jobs at the high-tech facility.
During the State of the Union address, President Biden said Gelsinger was ready to increase Intel’s investment in the US from $20 billion to $100 billion.
“This would be one of the largest manufacturing investments in American history,” the president said.
The First Lady is also highlighting Intel because the company is partnering with community colleges to train workers.
Dr. Biden has continued to teach English at Northern Virginia Community College since becoming First Lady.
She travels with Angela Hanks, Assistant Secretary of the Office of Employment and Training at the US Department of Labor.
On Tuesday, Biden will join Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra in Tucson, where she learns about the Tohono O’odham Nation’s cancer control program as part of the administration’s Cancer Moonshot initiative.
President Biden first announced the cancerous moon shot while he was vice president and after the death of his son Beau in 2015 from brain cancer.
The Bidens recently revived this initiative, and the president highlighted it in his State of the Union address, referring to the military’s use of waste incineration pits in Afghanistan and Iraq, which he suggested could have led to Beau Biden getting cancer.
This part of the speech drew particular attention because the president was interrupted by screaming Republican Rep. Lauren Bobert, who was booed by Democrats and yelled at by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham for her outburst.
Continuing their work with Native Americans, the First Lady and Becerra will also tour the San Xavier del Bac Mission and participate in a dance performance by Tohono O’odham members.
Since becoming First Lady, Dr. Biden has visited tribal lands several times.
Her husband made history by appointing New Mexico Rep. Deb Haaland as Secretary of the Interior, becoming the first Native American to serve in the cabinet.
And then on Wednesday, Dr. Biden and Hanks will travel to Reno, Nevada, to tour Truckee Meadows Community College, where they will learn about the school’s vocational programs.
After that, the First Lady will visit Fort Campbell to visit the families of the 101st Airborne Division as part of the Join Forces initiative, which she first launched with First Lady Michelle Obama when her husband was Vice President.
