The 38-year-old artist had to take a long break in the past due to burnout.
“I have to accept that this period of rest and remission will last longer than I imagined,” writes the author of the hit “Formidable”. “As such, I deeply regret not being able to keep my promise and announce today (Tuesday) the end of the Multitude Tour.”
Exhausted from an XXL world tour following hit album Racine Carrée (2013), Stromae first threw in the towel in late 2015, plagued by depression made worse by the side effects of an antimalarial drug.
The one who is among the most listened to French-speaking artists in the world finally got back on stage in 2022 to present Multitude. This third album had allowed him to win the sixth and seventh Victoire de la Musique, the French equivalent of the American Grammy Awards.
He had confessed to “Suicidal Thoughts” in Hell, a play with a strong autobiographical tone that was released in 2022.
