Caricatures and cartoons work all over the world – in most cases, crossing cultural borders and language barriers. This is also shown by the participants and winners of the new “Kaktus Cartoon Award”, which was presented for the first time on Thursday.

Caricature of Michi Brezel by Michi Brezel from Germany (1st place – Kaktus/Climate Change Prize)
Agim Sulaj Caricature of Agim Sulaj from Italy (2nd place – Kaktus/Climate Change Prize)
Till Mette Caricature of Til Mette from Germany (3rd place – Kaktus/Climate Change Prize)
The international jury of art, law and climate activists, chaired by Gerhard Haderer, awarded very different photos with the cactus. Third place in the “Climate Change” category goes to Til Mette, from Germany, with what Haderer says is a typical “quick” caricature.
Second place goes to a classic cartoon image with no text. It was designed by Agim Sulaj, an Albanian artist living in Italy. Haderer almost surprised himself in the first place with a “joke”. It was for the German Michi Brezel with his caricature of the Titanic.
The award in the “Climate Justice” category goes to Marian Kamensky for a photo on climate stickers.
