Are you looking for the best robot to help you with the daily cleaning of your apartment or house? Be careful, Roomba and Shark are no longer the only big players: TP-Link is also trying to carve out a place. Discover the Tapo RV10 Plus, a device that not only works as a vacuum cleaner but also as a mop. Compatible with voice assistants and equipped with an automatic charging station, it is a real hands-free cleaning experience offered to us.
This is not the first vacuum cleaner that I present to you on my website. Just think of the Shark Stratos or the robot Roomba 694 from iRobot.
These famous robots are becoming more and more popular over time since they are really practical and they help us in our daily cleaning.
However, the TP-Link Tapo RV10 Plus robot is characterized by a highly efficient cleaning route, as well as the automation of its emptying, which allows it to be used truly hands-free.
How does the robot move through our space?
From the first use, the Tapo RV10 Plus intelligently takes care of creating a smart map of our space using its gyroscope.
During our tests, we were pleasantly surprised by the quick detection of the environment. As the cleaning progresses, the robot then updates and improves its map.
The advantage is that you can change your card entirely from the mobile application on your phone.
Among other things, it allows us to merge or subdivide rooms for more precise cleaning, but also to add a list of virtual walls and forbidden areas where the robot would prefer not to go.
Unlike other robots, the Tapo RV10 Plus efficiently cleans zigzag floors.
It’s the same gyroscope that allows it to follow a zigzag trajectory as a Zamboni. As for cleaning, it is more efficient than other robots that navigate rather randomly depending on the obstacles they encounter.
However, the robot does not have lidar navigation, so you should definitely not expect perfect navigation.
It’s equipped with multiple sensors to detect obstacles and avoid snagging or falling, but luckily it has a bumper as it tends to bump into things everywhere.
Fortunately, we don’t have to worry about our furniture because it is soft to the touch and will not damage our furniture.
Vacuum cleaner and scrubber, two types of intelligent cleaning
The Tapo RV10 Plus is a 2-in-1 robot in the sense that it functions as a vacuum cleaner but also has a water tank that you can fill to use as a floor mop.
As a vacuum cleaner, it has 4 suction modes with different power levels: Quiet, Standard, Turbo and Max, which increases up to 2000 Pa.
It has triple noise cancellation and reaches around 55 dB on the lowest level, which is quieter than a microwave. If you have anxious animals or sleeping children, it really makes a difference.
We particularly liked that it has a HEPA filter that catches allergens and that the suction port is close to the floor so there isn’t a big cloud of dust when cleaning.
The application is really useful since you can set all the presets that must be followed for each cleaning.
As a mop, it has a 300ml water tank that can cover up to 200m2 depending on the water flow rate chosen:
- Low, recommended for hardwood floors;
- Moderate, for hardwood floors and tiles;
- High, as kitchens and dining rooms are more likely to get dirty and sticky.
It is very practical that we can add presets for each of our rooms via the app and, for example, always specify that the room should be cleaned with low suction power without water, then that the kitchen needs the turbo and a high water level.
Automatic discharge and battery life
In addition to being compatible with Google Assistant and Alexa, the auto-dumping feature of the Tapo RV10 Plus robot is really interesting and practical as it makes cleaning truly hands-free.
Basically, after the largest cleanings, the robot automatically empties itself using an ultra-short air duct and super suction power.
As a result, everything is emptied in a few seconds and there are no allergic particles in the trash can or on the floor.
In fact, the dust accumulates in an extra large sealed 4 liter disposable bag for up to 70 days.
You’ll get a notification in the app when it’s time to change something, and it’s easy. They never come into contact with dust so allergens are always locked in, which is especially handy for sensitive noses.
The bag is emptied and changed without contact with dust, ideal for allergy sufferers and sensitive noses.
As for the battery life, the Tapo RV10 Plus is 2600 mAh, which allows for a good 3 hours of continuous cleaning on each full charge.
While this is more than enough for many rooms, if the robot were to run out of battery during a session, it would automatically return to its charging station and, after recharging, would start right back where it left off.
You can get the Tapo RV10 Plus online for $600, which is certainly a sizable investment.
However, for a device that acts as a vacuum and mop and comes with an automatic dump station, we stay within the prices offered by the competition.
In addition, everything is included with the purchase: the mop holder, the washable cloth, 2 disposable 4 liter dust bags, the side brush, the HEPA filter as well as the cleaning brush, so you don’t have to spend much more on maintenance during.
Finally, it is certain that we also pay a little for the reputation of TP-Link, which is known for the quality of its products. Deco system, network extender and repeater, router for gamers, for outdoors, in short, we are rarely disappointed!
