Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Special Titles REVEALED and Trailers Released

Doctor Who has revealed the titles of its three 60th anniversary specials and released a brand new trailer starring David Tennant and Catherine Tate.

The popular BBC sci-fi series returns in November 2023 with three specials to celebrate its 60th anniversary, with a whole host of familiar faces returning.

Now Doctor Who has revealed the titles of the three anniversary episodes and a glimpse of the dramatic storylines that will be featured in an exciting trailer.

The short 40-second clip featured 52-year-old David reprising his role as the Doctor, while comedian Catherine, 53, reprized his role as fan-favorite Donna Noble.

It also starred newcomer Yasmin Finney as Rose and villain Neil Patrick Harris played the toymaker when he took on David.

Between brief snippets from upcoming episodes, the three episode titles were confirmed: “The Star Beast”, “Wild Blue Yonder” and “The Giggle”.

The short trailer began with Donna asking David’s 10th Doctor, ‘Why did that face come back? Say goodbye?’

Then there was an orange explosion in the sky as David said, “I don’t think that’s a plane, it’s a spaceship in trouble.”

He warned newcomer Rose – played by Heartstopper star Yasmin – who looked in awe as she stood next to The Doctor.

The first special, The Star Beast, then hit the big screen, followed by dramatic scenes from the episode that featured a metal, insect-like creature with red eyes.

When redacted and network error warnings appeared in the trailer, a shocked Donna was heard asking the Doctor, “Oh my god, where are we?”

The time-traveling Time Lord replies, “I’m sorry, Donna.”

The second title, Wild Blue Yonder, then surfaced before Neil’s incarnation of the famous Toymaker villain debuted.

Watching the tuxedo-clad Toymaker dance in circles, the Doctor warned, “He’s here, driving you insane and laughing at humanity.”

The Doctor was then shown reluctantly dancing with the Toymaker before the third special title, The Giggle, was unveiled.

In a recent clip, Donna showed herself catching the eye of a small, fluffy creature that was hiding behind a row of stuffed animals.

But when the animal suddenly moved, Donna yelled, “What the hell?”

Rose jumped too, as it seemed she was going to accompany the Doctor and Donna on more than one adventure through time and space.

A caption alongside the trailer read, “#DoctorWho returns later this year for its 60th anniversary with three special episodes.”

Doctor Who returns in November 2023 with three special episodes to celebrate the series’ 60th anniversary, starring David Tennant as the fourteenth Doctor.

The Fifteenth Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa, will then take control of the TARDIS alongside Millie Gibson as his new companion Ruby Sunday, with its first episode airing over the holiday season next year.

In October, Jodie Whittaker stepped down from her role as The Doctor and was replaced by returning star David for upcoming anniversary episodes.

Jodie’s latest episode gave fans a glimpse of Ncuti’s version of The Doctor as he was briefly seen in a teaser trailer alongside David.

It has already been announced that the likes of Jinkx Monsoon and Jonathan Groff will join the cast of Ncuti’s upcoming Doctor Who series.

The 38-year-old Broadway star, best known for crime series Mindhunter, has previously been announced for the sci-fi series.

The BBC said he will play a “mysterious and exciting” guest role in which he will “jump aboard the Tardis”.

New images show Jonathan in 19th-century fashion, complete with a blue tailcoat, embroidered waistcoat, dark pantaloons and light blue tie.
