Date and Time: Rita Lee’s family announced this Saturday evening (13) that Rita Lee’s Seventh Day Mass will be held on Tuesday (16) from 12:30 p.m. (Brasília time).
Local: Farewell to the Queen of Rock takes place at the Paróquia São Pedro e São Paulo in the Parque Alfredo in São Paulo.
Will it be open to the public? Yes. Fans of the artist will have their last goodbye time. Those who cannot attend can follow the live broadcast online.
“We invite you to the Seventhday Mass of our beloved Rita Lee,” the statement said.
The death: Rita Lee died last Monday (8), but the family did not disclose the cause of death. She is survived by her husband Roberto de Carvalho and their three children Beto, João and Antônio.

Rita Lee, the eternal queen of rock
Born in São Paulo on December 31, 1947, Rita Lee Jones de Carvalho is the daughter of Charles Fenley Jones, a dentist of North American immigrant descent, and Romilda Padula, the daughter of Italian immigrants. The youngest of two sisters and a sinner by tradition, she grew up in Vila Mariana, a neighborhood in southern São Paulo that she considered special her whole life and where she lived until the birth of her first child, Beto Lee .
As a child, Rita took piano lessons, but never considered pursuing a career as a musician. The artistic skills, while there, led to her wanting to be an actress. At times he even studied social communication at USP (University of São Paulo), but dropped out of college to pursue his passion for music.
His interest in music began in his youth when he discovered Elvis Presley, the Rolling Stones and the Beatles, among others. He began performing with friends at local clubs.
With songs with references from Paul Anka, Maysa, Carmen Miranda to Cauby Peixoto, Rita was part of several amateur music groups until finally joining a musical sextet called “Os Seis”. With the departure of three members, Rita, Arnaldo Baptista and Sérgio Dias remained. It was the beginning of the iconic Os Mutantes.
Rita stayed on Os Mutantes for six years, the most psychedelic period of her career, recording six albums. The band accompanied Gilberto Gil in the presentation at the 3rd Festival of Popular Brazilian Music, was part of the manifesto CD “Tropicália ou Panis et Circensis” and produced some of the most emblematic and important songs of Brazilian music, such as “Ando Meio Disconnected”. ‘, ‘A Minha Menina’ and ‘Balada do Louco’ for example.
The exclusion from Mutantes came with the end of her marriage to Arnaldo Baptista, which lasted from 1968 to 1972. During this time she had already recorded several solo albums, with compositions in collaboration with her bandmates as well as exclusive and individual compositions.
