“We made it together, girls.” With these words, Kate Winslet accepted the award for best actress for her role in “I am Ruth” during this Sunday’s BAFTA ceremony. The 47-year-old actress walked the red carpet of the Royal Albert Hall (London) on the arm of her daughter Mia Threapleton (22). In front of photographers, the duo struck complicit poses and shared big smiles before series director Dominic Savage walked in.
The Titanic star couldn’t contain his emotions when he revealed his first name. After a quick hug from her daughter and a few shared tears, Kate Winslet took to the stage to accept her award, not without giving a poignant speech. “Thank you, thank you very much. That means a lot because it really means that small British TV dramas can still be powerful,” she blurted out at first.

With bleary eyes, the Brit revealed that she “can’t read her speech”. A tenfold pride, because the actress shares the poster with her daughter. “If I could break this statuette in half, I would give the other half to Mia Threapleton,” she confided, her eyes on the main prospect, also tears in the gathering. “There were days when she was tormented by going deep into this very scary emotional terrain. And when I saw her doing it, it took my breath away.”
