Franz Di Cioccio to his daughter Elena: “He wanted to become famous with the book: he said things that were not true, he …

“Of course I read it. I mean I’ve looked at it but I’m not interested.’ Franz Di Cioccio, chairman of the PFM, describes it instead of stretching out his hand. Her daughter Elena published the book “Bad Blood” less than two months ago, in which she told the truth about herself: she revealed that she had been HIV positive for 21 years and had led a complex life full of abuse and grief. “We don’t have a relationship with dad at the moment, everyone went their own way,” he said, among other things. Difficult words entrusted to a long interview with the Corriere and also with the Hyenas, which have found a great response and which one cannot avoid asking the father, even if the occasion of the meeting is the release of a new PFM record .

“I can’t answer because I have nothing to say – answers Franz, 77 –. Elena leads her private life in her own way. Obviously she wanted to become famous with this book. If you continue to tell, it’s up to you, but you must understand that you have to answer people, not me, but you said things that are neither in heaven nor on earth ».

According to Di Cioccio, “Elena has a conflicted relationship with herself”: “I have nothing to forgive her, but for me she wrote borderline things, she was wrong.” You know what kind of person I am, I let mine Daughters never on the street.” His eldest daughter, Cinzia, is present at the press conference and intervenes: “I feel lucky and privileged for the parents I had.” Everyone lives their childhood and their parents from their point of view, with theirs own way, and they are personal experiences. I certainly wasn’t a traumatized child.

The rest is music: on Friday 19th, PFM makes itself heard again with «The Event – Live in Lugano», an album recorded live last summer during the Swiss city’s jazz summer: «It’s the beginning series of live albums – announce Franz Di Cioccio and Patrick Djivas – we will decide to do more when we hear that the cast of a concert was fantastic ».

In the case of the concert in Lugano, the occasion was the participation of the guitarist Matteo Mancuso and the organist Luca Zabbini, two young people who brought life to the evening and participated in a creative process that has been significant for the rock group, which has been around for over 50 years takes place mainly on stage: “We have a baggage of 6,000 concerts, we devote ourselves entirely to the audience and we are like impressionists, we make patches of music without paying attention to the genre,” says Di Cioccio.

“Every evening different versions of the songs are created on stage, almost improvisations. We’ve never done “September impressions” twice – says Djivas -. For us, change means maintaining interest in life, it’s a challenge to ourselves and not to the public.” The bassist describes the joy of playing under all circumstances: “I played with a fever, with a burned hand, with one leg, that been in a cast for 20 minutes. You can even be dying, but then you feel like a lion on stage.”

So her tour will continue without interruption in the next few months, with performances already planned from June to September and the desire to continue experimenting: “We decided years ago not to use computers at concerts – explains Djivas – not out of snobbery , but.” Having the freedom to do what we want. Now, of course, we’re wondering if artificial intelligence will one day be able to perform a concert with PFM and keep up with what’s happening on stage. Who knows, maybe yes.”
