Barack Obama was spotted golfing with actor Don Cheadle, who wore custom shoes and a glove with the number 44 to commemorate his tenure as the 44th US President.

Cheadle is a frequent golf fanatic of the former president and the duo were spotted hitting the golf courses in Los Angeles over the weekend.

Also attending the outing was Michael Brush, a staunch former White House aide in the Obama administration who currently works for Barack and Michelle Obama’s family office.

Obama, who is left-handed, wore on his right hand a custom-made Titleist glove 44 subtly embroidered in red numbers. The numbers on his shoes were even more subtle, appearing in a barely visible gray on the white shoes.

Meanwhile, in an interview Tuesday, Obama spoke about how much the presidency is taking a toll on his marriage, telling CBS, “It definitely helps not being in the White House.”

Obama said he didn’t appreciate the stress and strain his wife Michelle was going through raising their two daughters in the White House.

The former president’s comments came after Michelle spoke out late last year, saying she couldn’t face the fact that her husband held high office for eight years while their children, Malia and Sacha, were young.

Speaking to CBS about recovering from his marital woes, Barack Obama said, “It definitely helps to be in the White House and spend some more time with her.”

“But which also helps, as far as kids are concerned, Michelle, when our girls were growing up, that was priority one, two, three and four.”

“And so, as a committed dad, I wasn’t aware of the level of stress and tension for her.”

“Knowing that not only were I and Michelle under surveillance in this strange environment, but that we were raising our daughters in a situation that just wasn’t normal.”

“Now that they’re okay, she’s a little more forgiving of my mistakes.”

Barack said Michelle has since told him, “Looking back, you did well as a father.”

He added, “And if I pass this test, it will forgive me for most of my other weaknesses.”

For his part, Cheadle recently spoke to EW about Secret Invasion, his upcoming Marvel series for Disney+, in which he will star alongside Samuel L. Jackson.

In the spy series, out June 21, Cheadle plays Air Force hero James “Rhodey” Rhodes and Jackson plays gruff spymaster Nick Fury.

Cheadle told the outlet that the series will have the feel of a twisted Cold War spy thriller rather than the usual bombastic battle scenes and special effects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“It shows the elasticity of what the MCU can be,” he said. “It’s not so much about the bells and whistles of big special effects.” It’s more about intrigue and drama, espionage and deceit. And I still think it fits perfectly with what the MCU can do.”

Cheadle also said the series will help prepare for the upcoming MCU film Armor Wars, a planned standalone film about Rhodey, the superhero also known as War Machine.

“The funny thing is that we’re going to continue to explore Rhodey and – in a way for the first time – see what drives him,” explains Cheadle.

“We understand his physical challenges, but we haven’t really explored many of his emotional and psychological issues.” [challenges].’
