Oak Hill Country Club – Hole 1 flyover

Golf week, golf week
The only thing the PGA of America Stewards were worried about ahead of this week’s PGA Championship was the early morning weather in Rochester.
And indeed, the 105th running of the tournament – which traditionally took place in August until it was postponed to May in 2019 – was delayed by almost two hours due to frost, and even when it started, temperatures were still quite cold, at least for golf.
This came after a slightly cold Wednesday as the players completed their final preparations for the second major championship of the season.
For all the action on the East Course, come here throughout the day for ongoing updates.
Scott Stallings started his round on the 10th hole, which most golf analysts believe will be one of the easiest of the week on the East Course. Stallings proved that when he hit a drive down the middle of the 430-yard par 4. 128 yards from the flag, Stallings probably hit some kind of wedge and he two-hopped it in the hole for an Eagle-2.
The 38-year-old is a three-time PGA Tour winner, most recently in 2014. He has said if he weren’t a pro golfer, he’d be a pediatrician. Stallings has struggled this season, failing to make top 10 finishes in 16 starts.
Update 8:55 am: Players are at the Oak Hill golf course for the PGA Championship
Frost delayed the start by nearly two hours, but at 8:50 Shaun Micheel teeed off to start the tournament. Micheel won the 2003 PGA Championship at Oak Hill, and while this may be the last you’ll see a note on Micheel, he saved his starting hole, No. 1.
7:45am Update: Tee times changed after Frost delayed the start of the PGA Championship
The practice facilities and putting green are now open and the first players to tee off at 8:50am from the 1st tee and 8:55am from the 10th tee. The start times will be delayed by 1 hour and 50 minutes from the times originally stated.
Frost is delaying the start of the 2023 PGA Championship at Oak Hill
The PGA announced Thursday morning that first tee times at Oak Hill have been delayed due to frost on the course. To protect the square, no one was allowed on the grass and the gates only opened when the frost subsided. At 6 a.m. the temperature in Pittsford was 29 degrees. However, today’s peak is expected to be in the mid-1960s.
RPO will be featured during Sunday’s 2023 PGA Championship coverage
This week, CBS Sports, which will air the last two rounds of the PGA, visited the RPO to film the orchestra for a brief opening segment of Sunday’s broadcast. The segment compares the engagement and drama of the golfers at the PGA Championship to the RPO musicians performing Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony.
