India reiterates its support for diplomacy as a solution to conflict in Ukraine

At a meeting in the Japanese city of Hiroshima, Modi acknowledged the negative impact this situation is having on the world; However, he clarified that New Delhi remains committed to dialogue and diplomacy for an agreement between the parties.

He stressed that India and he as Prime Minister will do everything in their power in this regard for the sake of humanity.

Modi and Zelenskyy, who were invited to the G7 summit, also discussed other related issues and agreed to keep in touch, according to the Indian Foreign Ministry.

As part of his visit to Hiroshima, the Indian Prime Minister also held talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Minh Chinh and French President Emmanuel Macron on the subcontinent’s relations with those countries.

At the meeting with Macron, Narendra Modi thanked the honorary invitation for his participation in Bastille Day on July 14, 2023 and France’s cooperation in the G20 Presidency in New Delhi.

Both dignitaries discussed the progress of their strategic partnership in various areas including trade and economy; civil aviation; renewable energy; Culture; co-production and manufacturing in the defense sector; and civil nuclear cooperation.

They also agreed to expand into new areas and exchanged views on the region and global challenges.

During the meeting with Pham Minh Chinh, the two leaders highlighted the progress of India-Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership and decided to expand high-level contacts and deepen bilateral trade and investment ties.

They also explored opportunities for closer relationships in defense, building resilient supply chains, energy, science and technology, workforce development, culture and people-to-people.

Modi and Pham Minh Chinh exchanged positive views on the region’s development, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and Indo-Pacific cooperation.
