Tesla dares to advertise with new video – TESLARATI

Tesla has released what some have called the brand’s first ad, showing the potential of the company’s marketing strategy.

When Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced at a shareholder meeting earlier this week that the automaker was finally entering the world of advertising, many were shocked by the apparent 180-degree turn in politics. Prior to the announcement, Tesla had made a name for itself in the automotive world largely through its lack of advertising. Now the company’s Asia division has released what some call the brand’s first advertisement.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Tesla’s first ad was posted on Twitter via its Tesla Asia account, featuring a Tesla customer describing her buying experience and why she was interested in the brand in the first place.

The style of customer reviews is certainly bland compared to the company’s previous marketing stunts, particularly including its famous referral system that once allowed customers to win drag race experiences and a chance to drive the Boring Company’s tunnel machine. But despite the change in style, the reaction to the video seems to be positive, especially as it highlights Tesla’s industry-leading safety, which is often overlooked.

Due to the highly regionalized marketing styles around the world, marketing materials designed for the Asian market are unlikely to resemble those deployed in Tesla’s other key markets of North America and Europe. Nonetheless, the automaker’s willingness to engage in marketing efforts is a strong indicator that more material is to come.

It remains unclear what future Tesla ads will look like, where they will be published, or when they will be available. However, with a healthy group of investors embracing the decision to get involved in marketing, there’s no doubt that more promotional material is imminent.
