He films himself after escaping the GTI and throwing his gun out the car window

A young criminal who filmed himself on Snapchat after losing the GTI has just been convicted of driving into the police station and throwing his gun out a window while trying to flee.

On July 29, 2020, the Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal’s Tactical Intervention Group (GTI) conducted an operation to intercept 23-year-old Grolls Septus.

The police then wanted to arrest him in connection with an attempted murder committed in the days before. Septus was never charged in this case.

Shortly after 1:00 p.m., Septus was observed sitting in his BMW vehicle, parked on Amos Street in north Montreal, conversing with two other people.

An unmarked GTI car then parked at an angle to the BMW to prevent him from leaving the scene of the accident.

“One of the officers kicked the windshield of the BMW on the driver’s side with a window breaker. “Another officer sends in a plastic projectile that punctures the rear bumper,” read Judge Flavia K. Longo’s ruling Friday at the Montreal Courthouse.

However, the defendant decided to reverse gear and nearly smashed the shin of a police officer.

Then “the accused presses the gas pedal and flees in the direction of the officers.” […] when coupling the GTI vehicle,” it says.

The GTI then decides not to follow him, “because his driving style is too dangerous”.

During his escape, the defendant threw a Gucci bag out the window of his vehicle, which landed on a residential lot.

A security camera caught residents of an apartment building finding the bag that contained Septus' gun.

An air conditioning technician working at that address quickly took the bag and then found it contained a loaded firearm.

The defendant’s DNA was found on a surgical mask, which was also in the shoulder bag.

The gun loaded with Groll's septus was found in a Gucci school bag by a worker.

Snapchat Videos

Septus then posted four videos on his personal Snapchat account.

In some recordings, the defendant can be heard yelling obscenities such as “Fuck the SWAT”. [GTI] or “You are all spies.” [des délateurs] “. In other cases, the windshield of the white BMW he drives is damaged.

However, these videos were viewed shortly after they were released by a local police officer who, using a fake account, consulted the reports of “several well-known people”.

This patrol officer testified in court that Septus was an “interest object” in North Montreal and that he was seen each week in a neighborhood in the area “known for crimes involving street gangs, shootings and drug trafficking.”

Septus has previously been convicted of drug possession for the purpose of drug trafficking and is awaiting trial on firearms charges.

Chase on the freeway

At the end of the day, GTI officers finally managed to apprehend Septus while he was in another car on Highway 20 West, very close to the Ontario border.

One officer had to aim his semi-automatic rifle at the passenger-side window where Septus was, but he “didn’t comply and didn’t cooperate,” the verdict says.

Police had to use a glass breaker and then a taser gun to subdue the suspect.

Grolls Septus was convicted of possessing a prohibited weapon with ammunition, escaping, and assaulting a peace officer with a gun. He will receive his sentence at a later date.
