Maisie Smith has insisted she has “proved” her relationship with Max George isn’t for the cameras as they move in together after a nine-month romance.
The former EastEnders actress, 21, and the Wanted star, 34, have come under scrutiny over their 13-year age difference romance, but Maisie insisted their relationship is forever.
The Strictly contestant recently moved in with her boyfriend and has revealed they’ve been chilling in their new flat for a month while enjoying quality time together after a hectic few months at work.
In a new interview, Maisie said of the criticism of her relationship, “When you’re in a new relationship, people have a lot to say.” But we’ve been together for a while now and we’ve proved that our love isn’t just for the cameras .
“We really are two best friends, in love and so happy.” We still get negative comments. Family and friends are so supportive and have never seen us happier. I’ve never been in such a fortunate position.’

For the past few months, Maisie has starred as leading lady Fran in Strictly Ballroom: The Musical and before that toured with Strictly Come Dancing.
Of her downtime, she said, “Me and Max sat at home for a month and didn’t do anything.” I felt like I deserved it, I had a physically demanding job. We both agreed to relax, take our minds off everything and enjoy moving in together.”
Last week, Maisie looked sensational as she posed in a red dress on New York’s Broadway in pictures shared to Instagram.
The actress wore the off the shoulder satin mini dress with a side slit on the thigh.
She paired the garment with a pair of sheer black stockings with delicate patterned detailing at the top, while matching her dress with a pair of heels with red bows at the front.
Ex-EastEnders star Maisie wore a white faux fur coat and sported an elegant pearl necklace and a pair of gold earrings.
She wore lots of makeup to emphasize her pretty features as she posed on the street in the Big Apple.

This comes after Maisie’s boyfriend Max George risked the wrath of his famous girlfriend earlier this month when he shared a cheeky photo of her sleeping on the sofa.
The singer shared the hilarious photo of the former soap star on his Instagram Story.
She dozed off with her mouth wide open in a bright pink zip-up sweatshirt and face covered in glam makeup.
The Wanted star wrote: “Sleeping Beauty @maisiesmithofficial. A real angel.’
It emerged that Max and Maisie were secretly dating in August last year after they were spotted kissing on a flight.
The news came just days after it was revealed that Max had split from his single girlfriend Stacey Giggs, 43, who was previously married to footballer Ryan Giggs.

Max and Maisie are said to have become closer on the Strictly Come Dancing live tour after they both starred on the show in 2020.
This comes after Maisie recently dismissed concerns about her 13-year age gap with boyfriend Max, saying she is a “compliing 21-year-old woman”.
The star is head over heels in love with the singer and says the couple doesn’t realize the age difference between them.
Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, she said: “If it wasn’t that, it would be something else.”
“People don’t understand what goes on in a relationship behind closed doors, and I think they also forget that I’m a consenting 21-year-old woman who has actually been working longer than Max!”
“I don’t notice the age difference and neither do my friends or family.” My mother Julia is the one who reads through all the comments. Yesterday I got a text from her saying, “Just ignore her, you guys are made for each other.”
