Foo Fighters announce Josh Freese as new drummer

It is not yet clear if he will become a full member of the band or if it will be a longterm commitment. Band consultants declined to answer questions from Variety magazine.

A friend of Dave Grohl, the group’s lead singer, and Hawkins, Freese is a seasoned musician who has performed with Guns N’ Roses, A Perfect Circle, Puddle of Mudd, Nine Inch Nails, Weezer, Paramore and Sting.

The Foo Fighters will embark on a major tour in the United States next Wednesday (24), their first since Hawkins’ death.
