Four years after a little girl was found abandoned in a plastic bag in the woods, a woman has been arrested. Karima Jiwani, 40 years old, the child’s mother. The woman, who lives in the US state of Georgia, is accused of attempted murder, aggravated assault and cruelty.
Authorities found the girl, named India, after an emergency call went off an alarm. In video taken at the time of discovery, the baby can be seen still covered in fluid and wrapped in a cloth with the umbilical cord attached.

Treated like garbage
“If you look at everything that had to happen for this little girl to survive, the alarmed people who heard a noise in the woods and thought it was a wild animal, and the two girls who persuaded their father to go out in the middle of the night in the forest. To see where the noise they heard came from is almost a miracle,” said Freeman, the lead investigator.

DNA test
There is evidence that Jiwani allegedly gave birth to her child in a car and drove it for an extended period of time. Afterward, she “tied the baby up in a plastic bag and threw it in the woods like a bag of trash,” he said. Freeman again.
In handcuffs
After the child’s discovery, the investigation was expanded to other US states and ended about ten months ago when the child’s father was identified through DNA testing. After the father was located, the birth mother was also reached and arrested while a solidarity contest was launched for the little girl to adopt.
