Wagner’s boss, Yevgeny Prigozhin, warns of a 1917-like revolution in Russia that would lead to the downfall of the Tsarist Empire and calls for the imposition of martial law.
He warns that a revolution could break out in Russia and the country could lose the war against Ukraine. If the children of ordinary Russians continued to return in coffins while the children of the elite sunbathed abroad, Russia would face turmoil similar to the 1917 revolutions that culminated in civil war.
Ukraine will try to encircle the city of Bakhmut to the east and attack the Crimean Peninsula. “Probably, this scenario will not be good for Russia. Therefore, we need to prepare for a tough war,” Prigozhin said in an interview published on his Telegram channel. “We are in such a state that we can lose Russia – that is the main problem… We must impose martial law.”
Prigozhin clashing with Russian leadership
In recent weeks, the leader of Wagner’s mercenary group has returned to the headlines. In early May, he openly quarreled with Defense Minister Shoigu and Russian General Valery Gerasmiov: “Shoigu! Gerasimov! Where are the shitty grenades?” he raged in a video message. He threatened to withdraw his troops from the heavily contested Ukrainian city of Bakhmut because he could not get ammunition. He was also the last person to “flee” Russian troops from their positions near the town of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine.
