The day after the arrest of Bryan Mayer, a French teacher and sports team coach, for crimes of a sexual nature, our journalist Elizabeth Laplante feels the pulse of the community’s violent reaction.

“It’s still unfortunate for all the young girls and boys who have had to go through this, it’s awful.” […] These are cases that unfortunately repeat themselves,” said a parent of a student.
“We took it easy on the conversation to find out if he had been in contact with him [l’enseignant]how he felt and if he needs help. I mentioned all the resources the school had to him and didn’t hesitate to call me during the day to pick him up from school if needed,” another relative said.
The education minister was also questioned by Quebec Solidaire MP Ruba Ghazal on Wednesday morning about the province’s lack of a framework law on sexual violence in elementary and secondary schools.
Bernard Drainville said he was “very sensitive” as education minister.
“We’re all fed up, and if you will allow me, Madam President, we’re all fed up with all these stories that are multiplying,” he said.
