As fans had come to expect, Sony used the PlayStation Showcase to showcase some gameplay from Marvel’s SpiderMan 2 and it was stunning. However, there is no release date for the game just yet, just a window for Spring 2023.
In the video it is possible to see Peter Parker and Miles Morales fighting crime in New York. Peter is even dominated by a symbiote and his personality changes (he becomes much more nervous than usual). Also of note is the presence of two iconic villains: Lagarto and Kraven. Regard:
From what we’ve seen in the gameplay, PlayStation boss Jim Ryan really wasn’t messing around. The CEO recently stated that the title will be “very exciting” and expects a similar success as the game from 2018.

Sony also published an article on the PlayStation Blog to share more details about the friendly neighborhood game. First we get to know Queens, the borough of New York and the playable setting of Insomniac’s title.
There, Peter must stop the Kraven hunters who are after Dr. seek. Curt Connors (Lizard). He wears the legendary symbiote suit, which makes him pretty aggressive and with a pretty cool tentacle attack (Sony says players will use the L1 button a lot during these times).
In the gameplay, players can change the protagonist at certain times. Here Miles Morales assumes responsibility. He even has a new ability called “Web Wings” that allows him to glide while moving around the map (similar to a flying squirrel). According to Insomniac, this is possible thanks to the PS5 SSD.
Still dealing with gameplay with Miles, he has an interesting tool for stealth approaches: the “web line”. This allows the hero to sneak through the environment. His other new abilities include Electric Blast and Chain Lightning.
Finally, the developer explains that thanks to the PS5 technology, the game has “a world that is richer, denser and full of particle details to enhance the textures”. Also, expect an upgrade in ray tracing, 3D audio, and DualSense’s haptic responses and adaptive triggers.
