Great fiasco to start the campaign. Florida Governor Ron de Santis had called for a Twitter audio broadcast to present his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election through magnate Elon Musk. When the allotted time was exceeded by about 25 minutes, only a few broken sentences could be heard.
As the experiment failed, Joe Biden trolled him with a tweet: “This link works” and when he clicked, he ran his campaign. Former President Donald Trump has also joined the jokes of his own network, Truth Social. In the meantime, DeSantis has presented his candidacy in parallel with a video that was first published by the conservative broadcaster Fox News and also broadcast on the Internet. DeSantis tweeted the video, which worked in this case.
In this first video of his campaign, DeSantis presents himself as a candidate for a resurgence after an apocalyptic message in which he avoids quoting Donald Trump: “Our border is a disaster.” The federal government is infesting our cities with crime and making it difficult for families to make ends meet. And the President staggers. But decay is an option. success is achievable. And it’s worth fighting for freedom. Rebuilding this ship requires restoring sanity to our society, normality to our communities, and the integrity of our institutions. The truth must be our foundation. And common sense must not remain a rare virtue. In Florida we show that it is possible. We prefer facts to fear, education to doctrine, action, law and order to riot and disorder. We held the line when liberty was at stake and showed that we can and must revitalize America. We need the courage to lead and the strength to win. I’m Ron DeSantis. And I’m running for President to lead our great American resurgence.”
Then, despite repeated technical problems, DeSantis was able to begin delivering his message. Although theoretically presented as dialogue, the program began with what appeared to be a lengthy interventional reading with a plot similar to that of the video. He avoided quoting Trump in his first post.
DeSantis spoke about the immigrant invasion, crime, drugs and insecurity in his first speech. In each post, he cites Florida as an example of a place where things work best.

So far, neither Elon Musk nor moderator David Sacks, a Republican donor, friend of Musk and supporter of DeSantis, have asked him about Donald Trump.
