The singer Tina Turner, who died this Wednesday (24) at the age of 83, told in the 2021 documentary “TINA” details about her eventful past and her life with posttraumatic stress disorder was his last act in artistic life.

In addition to a detailed account of the singer, the film also contains testimonials from people who knew her, as well as archive material. The documentary also charts the singer’s rise to global music stardom. The interview shown in the documentary was given by Tina at the age of 81. In a notable moment of the testimony, he said:

“It wasn’t a good life.”

The statement already appears in one of the opening scenes of the documentary. Initially, the singer said she didn’t want a film about her life. “First thing she said when we sat down [para fazer o filme] “It was ‘I don’t want to do this,'” says TINA director Dan Lindsay. “And we said, ‘Okay, what does that mean?’ She said she didn’t want to be involved with the press and stuff like that anymore, and at the end of the film she talks about slowly disappearing from the scene.

The documentary also features testimonials from other artists, such as actress Angela Bassett (who played Tina in her 1993 biopic) and host Oprah Winfrey. One of the strongest moments is the revelation of the fight against posttraumatic stress disorder.

“For me, the biggest revelation is that she suffered from posttraumatic stress disorder. And that was so unexpected that it completely changed the way we approached the entire film,” said codirector TJ Martin.
