Parents compensated for suspension of school transport

Parents compensated for suspension of school transport –

Parents who are deprived of a school bus in Shawinigan are being compensated by the Center de Services Scolaire de l’Énergie as it decided to redistribute the amount that should have been paid to the carrier to families who do not have a school bus.

“Based on this amount, which was not paid to the airline, the fixed amount of compensation is $2.60 per day passage per student. […] Parents of a student who uses transit four times a day will receive a grant of $10.40 per day (4 x $2.60). “, we received information from the Center de Services Scolaire de l’Énergie.

However, according to several parents, this is an amount that does not cover all the costs caused by the inconvenience.

Others are satisfied with the profits made. But the fact is that the situation is starting to get worse for some, who still need to transport their children mornings and evenings, sometimes even to dinner.

The drivers of the energy buses have been on an indefinite general strike since April 20th.

Even if the calculation was carried out as fairly and quickly as possible, there are still some inequalities.

“I have to take an hour off in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. So that leaves me with holes of about $50 a day to pick up and drop off my kids, while other families will be bigger than they have, say, six kids, will have $600 for the two weeks and everyone takes the same vehicle,” explained a father-of-two he met in Shawinigan.

This compensation is paid until the end of the strike.

Energy Bus staff hope to locate their students as soon as possible once an agreement has been reached.
