Jimmy Kimmel is hosting a comedy show in support of ALS research on Friday while his godson Joey Porrello is currently battling the disease.

“Come to Vegas with me and my friends Friday night to support my godson Joey and everyone fighting ALS,” the 55-year-old ABC late night host said in an Instagram post.

The Brooklyn-born star, who hosted the Oscars earlier this year, credited his comedic collaborators on the show, including his exes Sarah Silverman, Jeffrey Ross, Patton Oswalt, Nick Kroll and Mark Rober, as well as its Sin Coty venue. Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club.

Porrello, 29, spoke to Las Vegas outlet KTNV earlier this month about living with Lou Gehrig’s disease, a year after he was diagnosed with the condition.

“My life is perfect in every way,” Porrello told the broadcaster. “I’m very lucky.”

The talk show host’s upbeat godson said his biggest obstacle in living with ALS is the way it affects his ability to communicate.

“I’m losing my voice, my ability to interact with other people and express my personality,” Porrello, father of children Ottilie, three, and Wally, ten months, told the broadcaster.

Alli told the outlet that she and her husband realized the potential problems when he started having problems with his wrist and mobility.

“He even fell once, and I think that’s when I thought, ‘This is really serious — because it’s not just your hand, it’s your whole body that’s not communicating,'” she told the outlet.

The Porrellos credited Kimmel for helping them find a doctor and connecting them with Project ALS, the organization focused on finding treatments and a cure for the disease.

Kimmel is linked to Joey through his longtime friendship with Joey’s father, Tommy.
