Black Sea Russia Denounces Ukrainian Drone Attack on Khurs Ship

Black Sea, Russia Denounces: “Ukrainian Drone Attack on Khurs Ship Foiled”

Three Ukrainian sea drones have attacked the Russian warship Ivan Khurs en route to the Bosphorus. But without success. The news was announced by Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov, who stated that the ship in question is used to ensure the safety of Russia’s Turkish Stream and Blue Stream gas pipelines in areas of exclusive economic interest to Turkey. The operation was foiled at dawn by the destruction of three sea drones. According to local media reports, the attempted attack occurred about 140 kilometers northeast of the Bosphorus. However, the ship managed to destroy the drones with its onboard weapons and then continued its mission. After the news of the attack, the Crimean authorities announced the closure of the Crimean bridge, saying that the reason was military exercises in the area. The wrecked ship is the most modern spy boat in the Russian Navy and was put into service in 2018. It is a 95 meter long unit with a crew of 131, specializing in radio communications interception and electronic countermeasures. Only a few small-calibre machine guns are on board for close defense.
