Double murder in Fort de France: Three men arrested and imprisoned

Police investigations were quickly launched following a double murder and an attempted murder. Less than ten days ago, on May 15, just after 8 p.m., two people were riddled with bullets in Fort-de-France, rue des Lavandières in the Trénelle Bas district. A third man was hospitalized with gunshot wounds.

“These crimes, committed by an organized gang related to the settlement against the background of drug trafficking, justified the referral to the specialized interregional jurisdiction (JIRS) of Fort-de-France, which entrusted the investigation to the Territorial Criminal Police Service (STPJ)” of the DTPN972 “, prosecutor Clarisse Taron announced in a press release this Wednesday, May 24th.

The injured man was taken to the hospital and taken into police custody there along with an accomplice. A third protagonist was arrested the day after the incident.

Gunfights, confiscation of weapons and drugs

According to prosecutors, the police investigation as of this writing has revealed that a cocaine transaction took place between two drug buyers and two drug sellers, all of whom were armed when they met. “The buyers stopped the sellers and a fierce gun battle ensued, killing one man on each side. It was the second buyer to be injured.”

In all, police seized two 9mm caliber guns, an AR15 semi-automatic rifle, cocaine and cash.

The three arrested suspects were produced before an investigating judge, who was charged with murder in an organized gang and attempted murder, gun and narcotics violations and criminal association. They are currently being held in Ducos prison.
