Threats and partial curfew at Georges Vanier school – Courrier Laval

A student at Georges Vanier high school alerted school officials and called 911 after reading a message threatening students at Saint Vincent de Paul school.

The event occurred around 11:25 am on Thursday morning, May 25 and is now over.

The threats that this young student would have seen were directed at everyone in the school.

The incident prompted a large police presence at the scene, while a partial closure of the school was ordered as many people had already gone to dinner.

The Laval Police Service (SPL) has set up a security perimeter while its officers carry out on-site checks.

However, the police have very little information to best carry out their intervention. In particular, they go through the classes and ask questions of some of the caged students.

A teacher was still barricaded in a room with his students and warned Courrier Laval that the school’s two floors did indeed appear to be safe at this time.

We also know that there is a patient class at the Center de la Nature and that the parents are outside the facility awaiting the outcome of the police operation.

This is the second event in almost 14 days that has required the closure of a school in the Laval area.
