Chrome Goes Color With These New Customization Options – MacGeneration

Does Chrome’s default interface make you sad? Personalization themes have been around for a long time in the Chrome Web Store. But Google decided to make the paint bucket even more accessible. With Chrome version 113 on desktop systems, customization options are built into the browser.

The MacGeneration theme

On the New Tab page, clicking the Customize Chrome button at the bottom right opens a panel with several tools. You can choose colors to be applied only to the chrome border or to the new tab as well. You can also choose any color by clicking the eyedropper.

Further options are hidden behind the “Change theme” button. You can choose a theme with an image from Google’s wide selection or import one of your photos. Remember that since version 14 Apple allows you to do the same with Safari.

A very personal issue

There is an option to select different themes for each user profile, which is also useful for better differentiation. Only Chrome’s default theme adapts to macOS dark mode, others are not darkened.
