Havana, May 25th. – The President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel remembered the today May Revolution in Argentina, in connection with the 213th anniversary of this fact as the first big step towards this emergence nation and its independence.

A hug from #Cuba to Sister #Argentina on another anniversary of the #MayRevolution, the Cuban President wrote on his Twitter profile.

After a series of events promoted by patriots such as Manuel Belgrano, Cornelio Saavedra, Juan José Antonio Castelli and Antonio Luis Beruti in the Río de la Plata viceroyalty of which Buenos Aires was the capital, Viceroy Baltasar Hidalgo was dismissed on May 25, 1810 by Cisneros.

This fact allowed the formation of the first Creole government in the Cabildo and the establishment of the territory known as the United Provinces of the Río de la Plata.

As a tribute to these events and their leaders, Argentines celebrate Fatherland Day every year with numerous political and cultural activities that begin in the evening on the night of the 24th.
