After 37 years at TV , a reporter was fired during an article: “Awkward situation”; Clock

While capturing a story last month, reporter Eduardo Tchao was surprised. On the show, he received news that he would be fired from TV Globo. This Tuesday (23), in an interview with the “Cara a Tapa” podcast, the journalist told how he felt about the situation, which he found “embarrassing”.

Tchao, who worked at the station for 37 years, had to interrupt the interview with two people to share what happened. “I just found it a bit boring the way it was going. I wrote a story, I turned in a journalistic scoop and it was an embarrassing situation because in the middle of the story they called me to drop the story and get fired,” the journalist said.

“I wanted to do my passport [quando o repórter aparece na matéria], then they said, “They want to meet you.” I was like, ‘The house collapsed,'” he guessed. “At that moment I wanted to write a story about big businessmen in Leblon who were robbed by Paulistas. I called a lady who wanted to speak to me and said, ‘Madam, thanks, but I’m going to be fired.’ ‘. It was embarrassing,” he explained.

During the conversation in the podcast, the communicator also shared about his experience at the station and the reaction of admirers to his departure. “People would call me and say, ‘You can’t go, you’re helping people.’ But it happened. I enjoyed working there, a lot of people regretted it, but the tide needs to be turned,” Tchao said. However, the communicator made no secret of how upset he was at the dismissal: “I think I got very involved, I worked too much. I think I still had a lot to do.” Regard:

Rede Globo has seen periods of mass layoffs in recent months. According to UOL’s Lucas Pasin’s column, several G1 professionals, reporters and presenters from the channel have been sacked in São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Recife and Brasília following layoffs in Rio de Janeiro. Also among the names no longer working at the company are Giuliana Morrone and Fabio Turci.

In a statement, the broadcaster explained that the cuts would be made because of changes in recent years. “Globo, like the other leading companies in the market, has an enduring commitment to the pursuit of efficiency and advancement, but regrets when it says goodbye to professionals who helped write and tell its story. “But that’s part of the dynamic of any business,” he began.

“Globo’s results reflect the good performance of its overall operations and a constant assessment of the country’s economic and business situation. “As part of the transformation process undergone in recent years and in line with its strategy, the company maintains its cost discipline and invests in key growth initiatives,” the statement concludes.
