House Foreign Affairs Committee member urges DOJ to investigate Black Lives Matter in The Evening Edit

According to a report, a deal between Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors and Warner Bros Television Group to produce shows that highlighted black voices expired last year without any production materializing.

“The studio signed an overall deal with BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors sometime in 2020. The contract expired in late October 2022,” a source told the New York Post. “Unfortunately, the deal resulted in no produced shows.”

According to Variety and The Post, the two-year deal would include scripted and unscripted series, children’s programs, documentaries and digital content in broadcast, cable and streaming productions.

It was not reported how much Cullors made from the deal.

Cullors has been embroiled in controversy since allegations of financial inadequacy towards the organization surfaced.

She resigned in May 2021, stating that she plans to pursue a book and television deal and denying that it was related to the allegations.

Cullors has denied that she or anyone else at the foundation misused the millions of dollars in donations that poured in after the 2020 killing of George Floyd, but admitted her organization didn’t have the infrastructure for one at the time had such a large inflow of money.

“The only thing I regret about BLM is wishing we could have taken a year or two off to just not do any work and just focus on infrastructure,” Cullors told the Associated Press last year.

“The idea that[the foundation]received millions of dollars and then I hid those dollars in my bank account is absolutely false,” she said. “It’s a false narrative. It touched me personally and professionally that people would accuse me of stealing from black people.”

Cullors spent $3.2 million on real estate in California and Georgia, the Post reported in 2021.
