The Los Van Van bassist died of a heart attack

Up until that moment the audience, mostly Puerto Ricans and Cubans, had given themselves over to the dancing and singing with the group, although the sound in the room wasn’t the best.
The Cuban group kicked off their tour of the United States, which would take them to the United States, in New York on Friday San Francisco Carnival and on Sunday in San Diego (California) before continuing the tour in Europe.

At that time, Robertón, one of the singers, introduced Sebastián, who he said was a Uruguayan bassist residing in New York, who came in to play while Carlos Formell was being mentored. Lele, another singer, stated that the musician “came to dance with Van Van and ended up playing with us,” without even knowing the tragic news.
