Twilight star Rachelle Lefevre accused Target of “trying to wipe out LGBTQ people” after the company removed its “PRIDE” line from stores following backlash from conservatives.
The actress slammed the retailer for its “merit-based collaboration” which falsely gave her seven-year-old child a sense of acceptance when she saw the Pride Month display outside the store.
“I came here two days ago and my 7-year-old, who is non-binary, saw it and said, ‘Look mom, that’s pride. Look, they’re gonna celebrate me,'” the Canadian actress said in an Instagram post, post while holding back tears.
“I can’t bring them here anymore, at least not for the whole month of June, because when they come in and all the other people that come in and they’re like, ‘Where did it go?’ will find that they succeed in wiping them out.”
“We are not supposed to negotiate with terrorists,” she added.
Target suffered a $9 billion market loss in just one week after an uproar over its LGBTQ-friendly clothing line, which included “tuck-friendly” women’s swimsuits and rainbow-colored toddler onesies.
