Frédéric Millaire Zouvi can count himself lucky in his almost 15-year career. He is fortunate enough to defend beautiful roles both on screen and on stage. The actor will also play La Licorne next year in a play that will not leave viewers indifferent.
After performing a public reading of f5 balls in the head at La Licorne in May 2022 at La Licorne, Frédéric Millaire Zouvi will return to the boards of this theater from March 5 to 30, 2024 to star in this testimony of Roxanne Bouchard to the encounters the author with Canadian soldiers who spoke to her about their experiences in Afghanistan. “The point of the play is that it resonates with people without judgment. “We’re not saying war is bad or right,” explains the actor, who will play a soldier. “I saw the picture of the guy I’m playing. He’s still in the army. We’re about the same height, but he’s got about 100 pounds more muscle than me. No one asks me to train, but I enjoy doing it because being a soldier comes with a certain gear, an attitude and a way of telling the story.
ALMOST 15 YEARS OF CAREER
Next year will be 15 years since Frédéric Millaire Zouvi graduated from the Montreal Conservatory of Dramatic Arts. “I started learning and practicing this profession when I was young, as a voice actor. The Conservatory, even though it’s an extremely important moment because it’s the beginning of my career as an actor, I don’t see it as starting there. For me, it was the moment I really admitted to myself that this is what I wanted to do. It’s been 15 years, but it feels like yesterday to me. I learn in all the shows I do and I still stumble like I did when I was in conservatory. I’m still the kid in my head.
Born into a family of artists – he is the son of Alain Zouvi and grandson of Albert Millaire, among others – Frédéric Millaire Zouvi does not find that legacy difficult to bear. “I think at this point it’s me who is going my way and I dare to think that people are choosing me because it’s me. I pass my audition and do my job. I have something to bring with me and I don’t have the same cast, age and interests as my father and grandfather. I think if people choose you, you’re lucky to be among the ones that work. That’s my case at the moment. I consider myself lucky. I think people want to see me, and not because I’m the son and grandson of…”
We saw him play Agent Manuel Audet in Alertes. This summer he’ll be shooting in a series he can’t talk about at the moment, and he’ll also be reprising his role as Jean-Michel in the fifth series. “During the first readings, I found it super touching. I thought he was a guy who lacked resources but had a good heart. I was very fortunate that the public loved this character so much. People talk to me about him a lot and like him very much, Jean-Michel. I live great challenges with those who play my little brother and father (Eliot Dupras and Alex Bisping) on the show. It’s fun.” His girlfriend, actress Stéphanie Germain, is also part of the series.
A FIRST FATHER’S DAY
As the father of little Hector, who was born last November, the actor will be celebrating his first Father’s Day on June 18th. “Every day I feel the great happiness of being a father. There are a lot of people around me who would try to be, and there are people it won’t work for. I’m lucky enough to have a blonde. It’s been 11 years, we love each other and it’s going well. We are happy to have a healthy child. He smiles, curious. It’s a lot of fun,” says Frédéric Millaire Zouvi, who says he’s learning, like his girlfriend, to balance work and family while he’s self-employed. “For the shows I’ve been on, I’ve been fortunate to have producers who have been very accommodating and who have scheduled my filming days before or after childbirth to allow me to be there in the early stages of fatherhood. I would like to continue learning to be a father and at the same time practice my profession. I’m trying to reconcile it all.
