Innocence Project: The Lorain/Durand-Brault tandem is producing a new series for Noovo

After the production of the series Get me out of me And Disobedience: Chantal Daigle’s choice For Crave, producers Sophie Lorain and Alexis Durand-Brault are once again collaborating with Bell Media to deliver the new fiction innocence project, which will air on Noovo next winter.

In the ten episodes, lawyers are closely observed as they defend victims of miscarriages of justice. Such will be the case of law student Stella Launière, who is taking a course with renowned criminal defense attorney Armand Coupal. He has just been appointed full professor of the Innocence Project at the university. Stella will try to prove the innocence of Anderson Jean-Louis, who has been convicted of a murder he claims not to have committed. Stella must curb Coupal’s adage, which reads, “To exonerate a defendant, one must know how to get one’s hands dirty…”

“The ‘Innocence Projects’ are legal clinics around the world whose purpose is to free prisoners who claim to have been wrongly convicted,” said Sophie Lorain, producer at ALSO Productions, in a press release on Wednesday.

“These clinics are located in law schools and are run by students under the supervision of specialized attorneys who work with them to defend cases where all legal remedies have been exhausted,” continued Ms. Lorain, who also defends a role in Project Innocence becomes.

It’s author Nadine Bismuth (“Indefendable,” “A Family Bond”) who wrote the intrigue, which director Catherine Therrien is picturing.

ALSO Productions, which produces Projet Innocence in association with Bell Media, will be announcing more details shortly, as will the rest of the cast.

The production box has been hyperactive since its inception. We also owe him the series Mégantic (Club illico), Portrait-robot (Club illico) and Un lien familial (Radio-Canada).
